The recent arrest of General Karenzi Karake is part of the international community trying to grasp its understandings of Rwanda’s bloody history. On the night of April 6, 1994, Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana assassination while flying back to Rwanda by unknown fighters triggered the last genocide of the twentieth century. The Rwandan Genocide or also named the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis, ravaged the entire country as neighbours killed neighbours. Genocide perpetrators claimed that the massacres were required in order to protect the nation from the invading Tutsi-dominated Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), which Rwanda had been fighting since 1990. It was the belief that the RPF wished to reestablish dominance over the majority Hutu population such as during the Belgium colonial period (1922-1962). The international community decided within the first few days to remove its presence with the removal of its citizens and the downgrading of the United Nations Assistance Mi ssion for Rwanda (UNAMIR). The world looked away as in around one hundred days; over one million Tutsis and moderate Hutus were butchered by the genocide forces. The massacres only ceased when the RPF’s military wing, the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) fully invaded the country and expelled the genocide forces into eastern Zaire or know named the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). To justify this claim, during the past twelve months, Yum received a revenue figure, according to Reuters, of $9. 56 billion. This number was a 5. 05% increase compared to the previous year number. While this increase in margin was a bit below the average year-to-year increase of 6. 58%, the difference in growth decline was only a 23% difference. Other companies like Brinker saw a 43% deceleration during this same time period. In addition, while some investors may critique the industry 11. 31% growth in sales during the past to Yum’s lower numbers, it is also important to realize that Yum supports the seconds highest sales figure in its industry, and appreciation of revenue growth will be much difficult than smaller-capitalization companies to come-by. In fact, some potential shareholders may make the claim that Yum is undervalued. Currently the industry has a P/E multiple of 31. 88 and a price to sales ratio of 2. 10. However, if analyst expectations are correct or and underestimate actual results (5/5 and 4/5 correct or below last five quarters for EPS and sales respectively), Yum sees a forward price to sales ratio 1. 9 and price to earnings ratio of 20. 18. Now while these numbers are not extraordinarily undervalued, as companies like Darden have slightly lower figures, compared to the industry as a whole and competitors like Starbucks (2. 25 price to sales and 31. 48 price to earnings), Yum’s valuation is far from being labeled as a negative characteristic. Intelligence itself is defined generally as cognitive abilities, brain-based abilities, and the general intelligence abilities of individuals. We first have to look at the basics of the human IQ differential among criminal offenders verses non-criminal offenders. It is believed that the IQ for offenders that are in the juvenile bracket is on average ninety-two percent overall while about twenty five percent of adult offenders in the prison system had a IQ below the eighty percent bracket (Ellis ;Walsh, 2003). Advances in the field of science quickly ushered in a new era of understanding for the origin of IQ as behavioral genetics. There were a variety of methods use by researchers to help them dissect the behavior of humans and classify them into components. These components consisted of the proporti on of variance in IQ that is attributable to environments that are similar within all the family members, environmental influences that are unique to specific or individual family members, and the variance within the IQ that is associated with genes. Studies conducted with twins were preferred in order to look at environmental vs genetic influences due to the fact that they share DNA and this allows researchers to estimate the degree of heritability in the complex traits of these individuals. It was hypothesized that if IQ is one hundred percent inheritable than the twins themselves would roughly score within the same range bracket. On the other hand if environmental factors and variable are responsible than the estimates within the heritability factor should be reduced by a substantial amount. There have been numerous behavioral studies that have shown that genetic influences of individuals are extensive across a wide range of human traits and behavioral patterns. It has also been shown that there are relative contributions of both environmental factors and genetic factors to intelligence itself. Environmental influences on an individuals IQ is extremely hard to detect due to the fact that the human genes that are associated w ith cognition are also related to that of social behaviors. One example we can look at is a family that has a live in grandmother that reads all the time and has a notorious number of books. This would mean that there would be more reading material available to the children. This would more than likely produce children with hire IQs than that of a household who has no books. This direct factor shows how influences in every day lives contribute to the development of intelligence. Indirect relationships are another factor that had criminologist sought to research and examine in regards to the intelligence-crime relationship. The main theory that was looked at is known as the social bond theory. Examining this theory more closely stated that humans are born with the natural sense to commit crime. If this is true then people would actually have to be stopped before they could carry out their desires. An individuals ability to restrain themselves from carrying out a crime is believed to be influenced greatly by the individuals bonds to society and their community. The bonds which theoretically tie humans together are known as attachment to society, personal commitment to society, involvement in society, and certain aspects of belief within that society. When these bonds were looked at closely it was discovered that a persons attachment to school is the most relevant in the explanation of indirect relationships. These are bonds that people make while attending school with other individuals or instructors. The theory is that individuals that build these strong relationships would rather avoid shaming or disappointing the people they have become close to. This would in turn deter the individual from committing the crime or prevent them from acting out in a delinquent manner. But a factor that tends to be overlooked is a persons ability on an intellectual level and how this can affec t them negatively. For example, failing classes or struggling to catch up on homework which in turn causing failing grades. This would potentially cause more stress and anxiety causing the individual to act out with violence. The attachments formed with instructors would begin to become severed and commitment would dissipate. Although focusing on cognitive factors that place people at a much higher rate of likelihood to commit crimes or to recommit crimes, we still need to focus on other characteristics such as responsivity factors. These factors need to be researched closely and both identified and evaluated because they can potentially interfere or interact with a persons ability to be able to respond properly to treatment or programs that have been put into place. Personality disorders for example such as Paranoid Personality Disorder, Schizotypal Personality Disorder, and Narcissistic Personality Disorder all have the potential to affect the intelligence-crime relationship. When placing people int o rehabilitation programs professionals need to evaluate a persons intelligence level to be able to determine possible struggles or the potential to commit crimes. This should be considered because people with these types of disorders along with their intelligence level would potentially cause different trains of thought and processing. Conclusion- in my conclusion I saw that my aspirin had less impurities compared to the commercial aspirin, the commercial aspirin showed more dots, this is because the commercial aspirin had other ingredients added in, this will have an effect on the aspirin, it will make it more impure as for my aspirin it didn’t have other substances added in therefore it wasn’t impure as much as the commercial aspirin. Method:- First I got a TLC plate and measured 1cm above the plate and drew a line, then I measured 4cm wide from the side. Measure 1cm from the side, take 2 test tubes and put in a 3rd of the aspirin with the spatula into the test tube, then a 3rd of the commercial aspirin into another test tube. Add 2. 5 ml of ethanol and 2. 5ml of dye chloromethane to another test tube and mix it together. Take a pipette and add 1cm of the solution to each test tube containing the aspirin, shake well do the aspirin dissolves, then get a capillary tube and put it on the TLC Plate and let it dry, you place the dots with the capillary tube four times and see the colour, then get a beaker and add ethanol acetate into the beaker and wait until the four dots go up on the TLC Plate and change colour and then make a mark. Results:-From my results I got two different results this is because, I used two different aspirins, a commercial aspirin which affected the results because in the commercial aspirin, chemicals where added and in the original aspirin I got normal results. Evaluation: While I was doing experiments in found it easy to work with a partner, the method was easy to set up, I found it difficult to understand the concept of some of the techniques used. Io found it easy to put the equipment away and use it, I had no problem. But because of the science laboratory, we didn’t have all of the resources that we needed so we didn’t make pure aspirin, if I had to do the experiments again I would make sure that I have all the resources that I need to make pure aspirin.

Some scholars say that there is no actual difference between Personnel Management and HRM except the two different names (Storey, 2007; Armstrong, 2003; Torrington et al., 2008). Along with the emergence of the new economic order in 80s and 90s of last century the approach towards people management changed and the preference of treating personnel moved to individual rather then collective in order to ensure that the highly skilled and loyal employees will give the organization a competitive advantage (Bratton and Gold, 2001). Thus, changing the title is also an approach to give the people management a new image to fit to the changing environment. Torrington and Hall (1991, cited in Armstrong, 2003) sees the distinction as, Personnel Management is workforce centred and therefore directs itself to employees, on the other hand HRM is resource centred concerns itself with the overall human resource needs of the organization. Storey (2007) shows the detailed differences between Personal Management and HRM in his twenty seven points of differences where he categorized the elements into four-part basic outlines. These are; Beliefs and assumptions, Strategic Aspects, Line Management and Key levers (Storey, 2007). Miller (1998) integrated Storeys twenty seven points into six main points that focuses on the major points of distinction between Personnel Management and Human Resource Management. Grievance and discipline; To ensure time keeping, good employee relations, proper behaviour and professional attitudes the HR department formulate company procedures. Strategic HRM: Human resource management is no more limited to managing people, recruiting, selecting, training and all other conventional administrative duties. As the people are the core competitive advantage in todays business, they are evaluated as the brainpower of the company rather than manpower. The way of business competition has become knowledge based (storey et al, 2009). Thus, the human resource department plays a more strategic role today. Apart from all the administrative works Strategic HR participates on planning corporate strategy. It plans out the necessary skills and required effort needed for a particular task to be carried out in future. SHRM also indicates a planned HR policy that integrates the business goal and may encompasses a number of HR strategies to improve the individual, thus business, performance to make the reward system more effective (CIPD , 2010). Miller (1998) says if a company be able to establish an appropriate fit between strategy and HRM it can be considered as practising strategic HRM. The business strategy and the strategic human resource management run in parallel, both are informative and communicative. Information available to SHRM about how people are motivated deployed and the availability of skills and knowledge might determine the business strategy, on the other hand when business strategy requires the improvement of customer service this will probably shape the training plans and performance improvement plans (CIPD, 2010). On the other hand the HR managers need to outline and monitor the HR task of the line managers. Economic and political change: Economic changes such as global recession, change in government policy as a result of the shift in political power force the companies to close facilities and decrease production cost. As a direct result of this organizations decrease the size of HR body and put pressure on the remaining to be more productive (Kumar, 2011). Through the effective training and development process the HR managers need to ensure top level productivity of the human capital that will reduce production cost and make the organization more sustainable. Conclusion: Human Resource Management has come through different changes and challenges over the recent years. Though, the innovation of technologies is reducing some of the HR tasks but these affecting the HR roles very less. Also, outsourcing is also happening in a number of cases thus it is not affecting HR roles significantly (CIPD, 2006). Yet outsourcing may reduce the HR task of an organization but it is shifting those tasks to some other companies. The cost of running a HR department may go up and down but at the end it repay with the improved productivity it brings to the human resource of the company. The human resource still remains the competitive advantage factor and it will remain so in the future. Different market boundaries are falling apart and forming one single global market. In this marketplace different companies of an industry are experimenting all possible and available resources to achieve the competitive advantage. But it is human resource that can offer additional featur es to a business through a continuous development process. Thus, the task of people management is not limiting rather its expanding. A dynamic human resource management body can attract the best bunches of talent by designing and offering exceptional reward and career opportunity package and at the same time it can improve the productivity of its existing resource to the highest level by planning, developing and implementing an effective training and development programme. For instance, Microsoft and Google both have search engines. The number of users using a search engine determines its business success. Now, people will use the search engine that consists of highest number of resources and that offer additional features that carry the better value then the others. The human resources are bringing all the features and widening business opportunities in these both cases. How Wilfred Owen Presents the Horror of War in Dulce et Decorum est In the First World War people wanted the young men to go to war, but no-one really knew about conditions of the fighting in the war. Wilfred Owen was one of the people who wanted to tell the public what war was really was like. He tried to do that through his poetry. One of his poems "Dulce et decorum est" shows the horror of war very well. We know that Wilfred Owen really does know what he's talking about as he served through most of the war and died shortly before the armistice. I am going to compare "Dulce et Decorum est" with other poems on the horror of war. "Dulce et Decorum est" is short for the Latin saying "Dulce est Decorum est Pro Patria mori" this means, it is a great and wonderful thing to die for one's country. Wilfred Owen tries to tell us that this is the opposite of what war was actually like. "Bent double like beggars under sacks" is how he describes the soldiers returning from the front line. This is not the patriotic view that the public was given. Wilfred Owen shows the horror of war by telling us that the young men in war were acting like old men who had trouble walking and are tired and weary from life. This isn't the image we should have of the young men that are going to protect the country and that they are the people the paper talked about. The poem describes a gas attack and alerts our senses by telling us the effects of the gas attack on a person that fails to put their gas mask on in time. By telling us things like that it alerts our senses and we imagine that we're choking and that it could be us that are choking and that ... ...et Decorum est" experienced, they experienced the direst horrors of 1914 war, they heard the shells dropping, they saw their friends die; they had to live in the trenches. Modern day war doesn't happen like this so the only people left to witness the horrors after they are dead are the family who have lost a son or a father or a brother. The poem is set out simply. It has two stanzas and has a simple rhyming pattern. I think this gives it a very simple understated mood that you would get when a child speaks to you about their day at school. This gives over the affect that war is only sad for those who understand it. The child who is speaking doesn't really understand the concept of war. I am given this impression because the child speaks of everything else first, and then last mentions the girl whose father died.

Margaret Sanger

Margaret Higgins Sanger ( 1879- 1966), was an American Pioneer in the birth control movement, was born in corning, New York., on September 14, 1879, the sixth of eleven children. Educated at Claverack College and Hudson River Institute, she hoped to become a physician but was obliged to compromise on nursing. She married William Sanger in 1990, and although they were divorced in 1913, she retained his name for professional purposes even after her marriage to J. N. H. slee the following year.As a nurse in New York City, Mrs. Sanger became aware of the poverty and death resulting from over- large families and abortions.   Prevented by the Comstock Law of 1873 from providing a formation on contraception, 1912 she wrote two series of articles â€Å"What Every Mother should know† and â€Å"What Every Girl should know†. In 1914 she founded the National Birth Control League and established a monthly magazine, The Woman Rebel. The next year she circulated through the mail a p amphlet, Family Limitations, for which she was indicated; but the case was dropped.In 1916 Mrs. Sanger opened the first birth-control clinic in America, in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. She was again indicted and served 30 days in prison. When amylase reacts with starch, it cuts off the disaccharide maltose (two glucose molecules linked together). As the reaction progresses, less starch will be present and more sugar (maltose) will be present.The activity of amylase can be observed by using iodine.Because iodine reacts with starch to form a dark brown/purple color. As amylase breaks down starch, less and less starch will be present and the color of the solution (if iodine is added) will become lighter and lighter. The color change was observed using spot-plates as illustrated on the diagram below. Amylase activity was observed under four different treatments: effect of temperature effect of pH effect of substrate concentration effect of enzyme concentration The Effects Of Temperature Amylase is an important metabolic enzyme. Its function is to catalyze the hydrolysis of starch into glucose. At high temperatures, Amylase becomes denatured, denatured amylase no longer catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch into glucose. EFFECT OF pH: Based on these results, what is the optimal pH for amylase? Is this optimal pH considered acidic, basic/alkaline, or neutral? Why does the activity decrease when the pH is too low or too high? APPARATUS -Starch -Amylase Enzyme -KH2P04 -Na2HP04 -HCI -Heater -Beaker -Falcon tube -Spectrophotometer -Iodine PROCEDURE 1.0.27 g KH2P04 buffer solution PH 5 was prepared with 20ml 2.0.27g KH2P04 PH6 was prepared with 20ml 3.0.27g KH2P04 PH7 was prepared with 100ml 4.0.282g Na2HPO4 PH8 was prepared with 20ml 5.0.282g Na2HP04 PH9 was prepared with 20ml 6.20g Starch was also prepared with 50ml cold water 7. To test amylase activity with PH difference,5ml starch ,5ml buffer(PH5,6,7,8,9 is used each) and 1ml amylase were mixed each other. 8.10min later,0.5ml prepared sample was put into 5ml HCI. 9.At 620nm ,the results were measured at spectrophotometer. 10. Second part temperature effect,5ml starch ,5ml PH7 buffer and 1ml amylase were mixed. 11.Prepared sample was put into different temperature 30,50,70 and 90C. 12.10 min later,5ml HCI was put into 0.5 ml prepared sample. 13.2-3 min later,5ml iodine was added into 0.5ml new sample 14.Absorbance of each was measured at spectrophotometer. OBSERVATIONS In this experiment,we tried to create different environment to examine amylase enzyme activity.The environment differences could be provided by PH differences.Therefore we prepared different medium also different pHs.K2.The graph was gained fÄÂ ±om our results.One of them is a graph that related to amylase activity at different PH.The other one is rela ted to amylase activity at different temperatures at constant PH.With K2HPO4 PH 5.6and 7 were prepared and with Na2PO4 8and 9.Each preparation procedure was applied.5ml starch ,5ml buffer,1ml amylase were added each other and then waited 10 min.After 10min,5ml HCI was added into 0.5 ml sample mixture.In a same way,the mixture for temperature observation was prepared pH 7.And added iodine to end of procedure. Absorbance results were taken from spectrophotometry.This measurement was at 620nm. pH buffer sample with amylase 0.074 0.027 0.026 0.043 0.074 According to the results, The smallest one can be think as a best one.How much enzyme is used is more essential point.If it is less one ,it means starch can not be used adequately.High starch amount means that complex amount is also high.The opposite one shows best activity amylase at smallest concentration.The colour is more light,smaller absorbance could be think as best amylase activity. Temperature sample with amylase 0.064 0.006 0.192 0.130 At 30C the colour is slightly orange. At 50C the colour is extra light like iodine colour. At 70C the colour is slightly purple. At 90C the colour is more purple than at 30C one like orange-purple.At constant PH ,the small concentration ,at 50C.Because small absorbance formed by small complex.It means that amount of starch was decreased also.Best activity is 50C at constant PH. RESULTS Our aim is to be related to activity of amylase.To detect it, we prepared different PH from KHP04 and Na2HP04 by adding acid or base. Usage both of them is related to interval of buffer.After preparation buffer,we measure absorbance at spectrophotometry.At different PH absorbance give also different concentration.If amylase enzyme concentration with sample is small, it means enzyme is used complex is more small so activity of ezyme is best one in there.At different PHs ,smallest concentration is at PH 7.And then we did second part of experiment by using PH7.The chosen of PH7 is related to observation best amylase activity at first part.At PH7 we took sample with amylase enzyme concentration at different PHs.The smallest concentration is at 50C in second part.The concentration is 0.006.The colour is more light like iodine colour.Starch is used with amylase and therefore complex colour is more light also.The amylase enzyme activity is best one at 50C.This measurement is done at 620nm. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION Why is measured at 620nm ? Why HCI is used for preparation ? What does Light color mean?How does more heat affect rxn? During experiment ,we want to distinct purpose of experiment by answering these question.In this experiment,we related to effect of different buffer and temperature.We prepared buffers at different PH.KH2P04 was prepared for PH 5 ,6 ,7and Na2HP04 for 8and 9.In first part , at constant temperature (room temperature) sample with amylase concentration was measured.At PH 7,we measured the smallest one.Small concentration means less complex less starch and enzyme is used enzyme activity is high.Our result from measurement at PH 7 is 0.026.As a second part ,constant PH,temperature was changed and then observed the effect of it.At 50 C ,smallest absorbance ( 0.0060 )was found and the colour was extra light.It means more less complex there.In this experiment ,iodine is used to detect starch molecules by observing color change.Iodine and starch were combined and then formed c omplex.The another point is why HCI is used.The acid stops the enzymatic reaction and iodine reacts with starch to produce blue color.Activity of enzyme is also essential.It can be used for denaturation detection.Starch reacts with iodine which is yellow to form blue compound Amax=620nm.The intensity of the blue color can be quantified spectrophotometrically by measuring its absorbance at 620nm.

After reading The Courage To Care I believe that Odette Meyers quote â€Å"I do think that good people, simple people are much more complicated than evil people, which is one reason perhaps why we do not bother with them so much.† is true for just about all of the rescuers. If these people were evil, they would have never found the courage to help out so many people. In my opinion, evil people are cowards acting out for attention. Normal, simple people are the human beings with the biggest hearts, most intelligent minds, and the one’s with the most courage. The two rescuers I have found Meyer’s statement to be most true are Marie Chotel aka â€Å"Madame Marie† and Irene Opdyke.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Madame Marie was your average, everyday woman. She had a huge heart and a great mind. When she helped rescue Odette and her mother she did what was natural to most simple people. Most simple people would not think twice about what they were doing or just how dangerous it was. It is human nature to protect our family and the people we love. For those that are evil, they think only of themselves. They are truly cowards and do things that good people would not even imagine doing which is why we pay so much attention to them. Marie thought quickly and on her toes when she was helping to rescue the Jews. She held her composure when the search team entered her apartment. She was able to think quickly and give credible answers so that she was believed. In my opinion, that is the sign of an intelligent person.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Then you have Irene Opdyke who also was your average, simple, and good person. She risked her life to help out and protect the people she cared about. Although the people she helped out were not her family, she considered them just that and did what I believe any good person would do. It is human instinct to help out each other in times of crisis and tragedy. There are go many more good and simple people on this earth that we don’t think twice about what they are doing even when they do something extraordinary. It is the evil people that we look at with puzzled faces and bewilderment. This is why these people get so much attention. It is disbelief on the part of the everyday person.
